| Introduction to Maritime Law Enforcement Class Mission: To expose 16 Sea Cadets to an overview of CG Law Enforcement Operations. Location: USCG Station Portland 6767 North Basin Drive Portland, OR 97217 When: Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 0900-1500 Plan of the Day: 0900-0915 Cadets arrive onboard station, conduct introductions 0915-1015 Cadets watch High Seas Cops Video 1015-1045 Stories from CG Station Crew/Law Enforcement Mission 1045-1130 Effective Communications, Use of Force Levels 1-3 1130-1215 Lunch 1215-1230 Safety Brief 1230-1430 Basic Control Techniques 1430-1445 Clean Up 1445-1500 De Brief and Dismissal Uniform of the Day: Cadets- Utility Uniforms or BDUs with tennis shoes, Officers - Appropriate Attire Logistics: Transportation: Cadets will be provided transportation to and from CG Station Portland by parents or officers. Parking is located on the backside of the station across from the buoy depot. Ensure parents/officers arrive on time to drop off/pick up their cadets. Parents and Officers are welcome to stay and observe the training. Meals: The base galley can provide meals at a cost of $4.25 per person. I will need to know by March 15th if you will be eating in the galley. If not, there are fast food restaurants about two miles down the street from the station or you can bring a sack lunch. Administration: Cadet’s unit Commanding Officers are to provide Locally Arranged Training Orders, and emergency contact information. Entire records are not needed, as this is only one day training. Unit Commanding Officers: Unit CO’s submit cadet’s name and rate to BMC Eaton at the email address provided below. If any officers/parents are driving on base, I will require there name, make/model of vehicle and the vehicles license plate number. I will pass to the security officer. Parents, Commanding Officers and Cadets: I will be instructing the cadets in basic suspect control techniques. These techniques involve pain compliance and they will hurt! The cadets will not be performing these moves at 100% but there will be pain involved. If you, or your cadet, do not wish to be involved in these techniques then do not apply to this training. Cadets must not have any physical limitations, as the afternoon portion of this training will involve, moving, standing, and kneeling.
